ADDICTION TREATMENT CENTER

SANTA MONICA

WHAT TYPE OF ADDICTION TREATMENT CENTER IS FOR ME?

When it comes to finding the right treatment center, it can be completely overwhelming. The important part is that you’re here: whether you’re looking for outpatient treatment or a more intensive residential inpatient program, we’re here for you. No person is exactly alike, and neither are our custom-tailored addiction treatment programs. We’ve put together this page to help you consider your needs when making the right decision.

Inpatient Drug & Alcohol Rehab

Most of our clients choose to opt for inpatient rehab, since addiction can be so tricky in the early stages. When you come to visit one of our licensed accredited residential rehab facilities, you get the opportunity to escape the same old people and places that kept you trapped within the throes of your habit. It’s an immersive experience where you learn to live again, become a part of a worldwide community and re-imagine what you thought was possible with your life.

Medically assisted detox recommended for anyone struggling with physical withdrawal symptoms. Inpatient detox involves a closer watch along with medicine designed to ease your withdrawal symptoms. When you’re under the care of our passionate and thoughtful medical staff, you can be sure that the right medication will be prescribed to make your transition into a new life as smooth and comfortably as possible.

Dual Diagnosis

Unfortunately, mental illness is often associated with drug addiction and alcoholism. Those with substance abuse problems often are trying to self medicate for problems they didn’t even know they had. We take a compassionate approach to these situations, and have helped many live happy and successful lives after getting a proper diagnosis and finding sobriety

Sometimes we have commitments that cannot be dropped at the tip of a hat. In other situations, we see those struggling to stay sober come to out outpatient treatment center as a kind of “maintenance” to help them stay strong. In either case, intensive outpatient is a great way to get adjusted to life in sobriety

An Introduction To The Disease Of Addiction Therapy

The Sea Change therapeutic approach combines the most current thinking with time-tested clinical experience. The Postmodern therapy practiced here is a highly positive and solutions-based method of helping men set their own goals, identify personal strengths, and assume their inherent value. This approach spends less time dwelling on the negativity of life during drug and alcohol addiction and more time on learning how to use one’s inherent gifts to succeed in recovery – and in life.

Postmodern therapy also incorporates the concept of one’s personal narrative as a means of constructing a path to meeting personal goals and aspirations. And here at Sea Change, we believe that for many individuals, drug and alcohol addiction is the cause or result of a stalled personal narrative that keeps them from progressing to full emotional maturity and purposeful living. Part of our process is helping them understand this inner path and how to get it back on track.

More About Our Innovative Substance Abuse Treatment Center

Psychotherapy & Addiction Treatment

Sea Change clients receive regular individual and group therapy sessions with licensed, experienced practitioners. An individualized care plan is developed based on an assessment of each client’s unique needs and goals. CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), addiction education and counseling, and group therapy. 12-Step work is heavily emphasized at Sea Change, and our clients attend and participate in daily meetings. Perhaps one of the most unique aspects of the Sea Change program is its Experiential Therapy, which includes Salt Water Therapy, Music Therapy, and Muay Thai training for mental and physical health and wellbeing.

A fundamental principle of our clinical practice is that addiction is a disease that requires lifelong management. We understand that relapses can and do occur as a part of living with drug and alcohol addiction and that only through the development of resilience and skills can an individual learn to reduce the duration and frequency of relapse and return as quickly as possible to healthful recovery. Length of stay in therapy can play a major role in successfully developing personal resilience. Only by repeatedly experiencing joy without the use of substances, internalizing the skills and lessons of therapy, and developing a network of sober, positive friends and supporters can one enter recovery with the greatest promise of lasting change. Because more time in treatment can lead to a more lasting recovery, our length of stay may be longer than traditional 30-day drug and alcohol rehab programs.

Sea Change clinical focus areas:

  • Trauma Therapy

  • Experiential Therapy including Salt Water Therapy, Muay Thai and Music Therapy

ADDICTION TREAMENT & CO-OCCURRING DISORDERS

Addiction doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Most addiction and substance abusers are self-medicating in an effort to extinguish pain. More often than not, addiction is catalyzed by the emotional pain brought on by past trauma. This is why so many men we see not only suffer from the physical effects of their addictions, but also from a variety of emotional issues that can include, anxiety, depression, obsessive/compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, and other adverse mental health conditions.

At Sea Change, we believe that addressing addictive disorders and mental health disorders concurrently is critical to successful, lasting recovery for serval reasons. First, participating in and processing behavioral therapy requires that the client have as clear a mind as possible and not be sidetracked by the effects of depression, anxiety and other co-occurring conditions. We also believe that medication-based therapy for mental health conditions is more effective when your pharmacologist is acutely aware of your past substance abuse disorder and your present efforts to maintain sobriety. It is essential that the medications prescribed for co-occurring mental disorders are safe and appropriate for a recovering addict. Additionally, group therapy during treatment provides an opportunity to address mental illness as well as addiction while helping the client develop an even stronger support network. And finally, the treatment of mental health disorders during addiction treatment can help the client more deeply understand the emotional “triggers” in their lives that can cause relapse.

We Are A 12 Step Based Drug & Alcohol Treatment Center

At Sea Change, we believe strongly in the power of the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Simply put, it works for the clients we treat. Learning and working The Steps, attending meetings, and finding a sponsor provides a positive, safe and mindful path to lasting recovery and sobriety. But in addition to The Steps themselves, we also believe that process of participating in Step-based groups such as A.A. provides an important opportunity for clients to interact in a new way with the community at-large. Here, we consider attending meetings a privilege, an opportunity to demonstrate respect, and a chance to earn recognition and belonging.

Sea Change has become a welcome and regular part of the Santa Monica and Venice Beach recovery community. By arriving on time, greeting and shaking the hand of the meeting organizer, helping set up chairs, making coffee, actively listening to others and volunteering our own stories, the men of Sea Change have garnered the respect of recovery community members and leaders alike.

We understand that some people may struggle with certain aspects of traditional 12-Step programs including the acceptance of a higher power. As such, we help each person adapt The Steps to meet their own deeply held beliefs and principles so that he may receive the benefit of Step Work without the distraction of being asked to believe in something he may not.

The clients of Sea Change attend daily 12-Step meetings in and around the Santa Monica and Venice Beach communities. When individuals leave treatment at Sea Change, continuing an active 12-Step practice is an important part of ongoing recovery.
