Dr. Rodney Collins is currently board certified as an Addiction Medicine and General Adult Psychiatrist in private practice at New Visions Medical Group, Inc. in Beverly Hills, CA and also practices at AltaMed Healthcare specializing in the care of HIV/AIDS infected patients in East Los Angeles. Dr. Collins has previously practiced at Kaiser Permanente, Bellflower, Exodus Medical Group, Culver City, CA, and Hillview Mental Health Center, Lakeview Terrace, CA. .
Stanford University is where Dr. Collins started his academic career and he graduated in 1979, with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. He received his medical degree from Howard University, College of Medicine in Washington, DC, in 1983. From there he trained at King-Drew Medical Center and the US Army in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Collins started his medical career in the United States Army as General Medical Officer, working as a Captain in Emergency Rooms and Urgent Care Centers.. After receiving an honorable discharge from the US Army, he practiced eight years prior to returning to residency training in Psychiatry at UCLA-Olive View and Sepulveda VA Medical Centers in North Hills, CA.
His knowledge and wisdom of addiction and associated behavioral issues allows Dr. Collins to treat his clients with empathy and understanding in providing solutions to the issues they face. Dr. Collins was born and raised in Southern California and enjoys skiing, exercise, sports, tennis, racquetball, movies and reading.
